The tool, says CM4all, allows small and medium-sized businesses, private users and organizations to design and maintain Web sites online without any knowledge of HTML programming, thanks in part to its numerous design templates that offer countless possibilities for individualization. End users need not purchase the Web-based content management system and have it installed on their personal computers; instead, the product is integrated directly into the hosting packages offered by their service provider. The product, says CM4all, can allow an end user to develop a professional looking Web site in less than 30 minutes. CM4all takes full advantage of the application service provider model. Internet service providers, hosting companies and telecommunication firms can seamlessly integrate the service into their offerings without extensive installation expense. The ASP model allows OEM customers to handle high numbers of users (up to 50,000 customer Web sites on just one server) and offer CM4all products at an attractive price. CM4all server software runs on hardware within the OEM's data center. The software is specifically designed to easily integrate with billing and control panel architecture. There is a range of server solutions to choose from, depending on the individual requirements and the number of end users the OEM customer expects to have. Field-tested configurations range from single-server solutions to installations with two redundant servers or highly scalable cluster systems. CM4all provides all installation, automatic system updates and maintenance via remote administration. "We have developed a system where a Web browser is all that is necessary to build and manage a Web site," states Robert Schovenberg, chief executive and co-founder of the company. "With our tool, many one-page Web sites can be easily developed into full-blown, corporate sites. The result typically is a 50 percent increase in hosting revenue, due to a user's sudden interest in spending more on services to personalize their sites." CM4all typically has targeted large OEMs that have bundled the system with their existing hosting products. In Europe, the company provides content management services to almost 350,000 end users at hosting giant 1&1 Internet. CM4all also provides its services to Swiss Telecom and to Deutsche Telekom's T-Online European business units. In total, CM4all caters to nearly 1 million end customers through its European OEM customers. Over the course of this year however, the firm has been steadily moving into the Americas. In late 2003, the company approached large and mid-sized hosting firms and won its first contract with Verio/NTT. For Verio, CM4all delivered a content management system for North American clients based on CM4all technology and customized the solution to Verio's private label requirements. The CM4all software enabled Verio customers to design their own Web sites through browsers. The software was further configured to include integrated e-commerce functionality and Web services such as blogging, surveys, map and driving directions, shopping carts and online forums. Recently, the company signed up Superb Internet Corporation, which is also using the software to private label its site building offerings. CM4all also recently negotiated contracts with domain registrar eNom, which will begin offering content management services in September and budget host uplinkearth.com, which will launch at the end of the month. CM4all has even moved into Latin America by signing Terra Lycos S.A. CM4all WebsiteCreator was integrated into the Terra Lycos hosting portfolio with a user interface in line with the company's corporate identity. Users can use the software in English, Spanish or Portuguese. The company plans to continue making in-roads in the Americas through its new North American office, and through strategic acquisition of at least five new customers this year, and 10 next year. CM4all intends to win customers through emphasizing its more consumer-friendly approach. "Our technologies take a rather different approach," says Schovenberg. "Instead of asking how many POP accounts a customer needs, we ask more relevant questions such as: how many Web pages does your site require? The result is more end user satisfaction and loyalty." The company also plans to win customers by its aggressive pricing structure. OEM partners can elect to enter into revenue sharing or pay a low, recurring fee per account.
