EMAILS AND QUESTIONS FROM NOTARIES

Dear Victoria: I needed a document notarized for my husband so I went to your online
notary directory to find a notary. I contacted several in my local county area and
they told me they would not notarize anything for less than $50.00. Where can I get
my husbands document notarized for less than $50.00? (MN)

RESPONSE FROM VICTORIA RING

First of all, I sincerely apologize for the behavior of the notaries you contacted. It
is evident they misunderstood that you only needed one piece of paper notarized and
not an entire mortgage loan package. A set of mortgage documents may contain from 50
to 120 pieces of paper, which is why a notary is paid $50 or more for the processing
of the entire set. Notarizing one document is a public service and the fee should be
no more than $1.00 or $2.00 (in most states.)

You can go to any bank or courthouse in your area to have documents notarized for a
small fee. The fee limits are set by the individual state but they would never be
$50.00.

NOTE TO NOTARIES:

All notaries must remember that we are PUBLIC SERVANTS. We take an oath of office to
serve the public and we should never refuse to notarize a document for the general
public (unless we suspicion it is fraudulent or the person is under duress).

It is quite evident that the notaries who quoted this poor lady $50.00 to notarize one
piece of paper confused her with a loan signing. However, this brings up another
interesting point: If the notaries who spoke to this lady didnt care enough to find
out what the lady wanted in the first place, think of the problems these notaries will
have when they actually do a mortgage signing. By not listening and following
instructions, they will make a lot of mistakes and destroy their reputation in the
notary signing agent field.

I should have NEVER received an email from a consumer like the one I published above.
The notaries should have been more thorough and recognized she was a consumer and not
a signing company. They should have found out exactly what the lady wanted by asking
her questions to obtain the correct information. Instead, these notaries just got
rid of this lady and didnt care about her situation. This is NOT being a public
servant and whoever did this should be ashamed of their behavior.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Victoria: I purchased your notary book, read the information and put it to use.
Tonight I just completed a signing for a mortgage company where I made $200.00. Thank
you so much for making this all possible. (Name withheld)

Dear Victoria: I just want to say thanks for all the information that you have
provide through your notary book. It has helped me in getting my Notary Signing Agent
business going because more and more companies are contacting me for assignments. I
went and applied for my business license as I see it like you said, to show that my
business is firm and will be here for awhile. Thanks for placing GOD Our Father above
all else, as you don't find that today. (RF)

Signing Agent Business go online to http://www.50statenotary.com/book/

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Victoria: I e-mailed about 5 to 7 notaries in the Nationwide Notary Directory to see
how to get started but nobody has returned my e-mail. I know that it takes time but it
has been about a week. Yes I do have my commission and my stamp but nobody wants to
help. Why? I am not sure. Do you know if I need to get that Certification at the NNA
first? Yes I have read your book a few times now. (DB)

RESPONSE FROM VICTORIA RING

Unfortunately there are several notaries out there who do not like helping other
people. They are selfish and only care about making as much money as they can.

However, just like everything else in life -- you have to have patience and keep going
to achieve your goal. There are 100s of notaries who dearly love to help people like
you who are willing to learn. Visit all the other notary web directories and instead
of sending out 5 or 7 emails, sent out 150 or 200. You are bound to find someone to be
your mentor and who will reply to you.

On another note -- NO you do not need to obtain certification to work as a notary
signing agent. It helps -- but it is not a mandatory job requirement.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Victoria. I just paid for a listing in the Nationwide Notary Directory. When I
went to view my web page and it looked very plain. When I clicked on some of the
others, I noticed that they had a black background with the 50 State Notary graphic.
I really like that better. Could you change my background like that one? (DR)

RESPONSE FROM VICTORIA RING

The "new" look was established in July of this year. The reason some of the other web
pages in the Nationwide Notary Directory are brighter and more colorful is because
they are older listings received prior to July. When the new look was implemented
in July, it was impossible for me to go through the entire directory and change every
single notary web page that had been designed in the older format. Therefore, the
"new" look was implemented for notary web page listings received after July.

The reason the change was implemented in the first place was because the mortgage and
title companies (who use the directory) suggested the change to a less colorful
look. In addition, I received many complaints about the colorful web pages looking
too cartoon-like.

Now that I have made the change to a "less colorful" web page look and have satisfied
all the people who complained, I receive requests from people every once in awhile
(like you) who preferred the more colorful look. Unfortunately, I cannot please
everyone however, I feel it is more important to please the mortgage and title
companys wishes because they are the people who are responsible for giving
assignments to the notaries who are listed in the Nationwide Notary Directory. Faced
with the choice of either increasing the income of notaries listed in the directory,
or pleasing the notary I decided to do what I believe will be better for the notary.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Victoria: I went out today giving out my business cards to various different
locations. I decided to go to this mortgage company to let them know that I am an
independent loan closer. I find that if you say you are a mobile notary, they seem to
not appreciate what you have to offer. When I was introducing my services I was told
that they use title companies and how would I come into play with the transactions. I
asked if they prepared the docs and she stated they did not. She stated that they use
title companies to prepare the docs. She was interested but I really didn't have an
answer for her. I felt really stupid! I told her that there is a way to work with
mortgage companies with my services and would get back with her. She gave me her card
and definitely wants me to contact her again. What am I supposed to say? How do I
fit in? Thank you so much for being my mentor! (JC)

RESPONSE FROM VICTORIA RING

Good for you! I am glad to see you are making an effort to market your notary
services. However, every mortgage company works differently. Some mortgage companies
use title companies to prepare the documents, others use signing companies and some
prepare their own. If the mortgage company told you that the title company is the one
that prepares the documents then you need to go to the title company and offer your
services. The key is to find out which company dispatches out the notary because
every one will be different.

When you contact the lady at the mortgage company as a follow-up, make sure she
understands YOUR role in the process. You take the documents to the borrowers home
and have them notarized. You may want to ask her something like: When you receive
the documents back from the title company are they already notarized by the
borrowers? If the answer is yes then ask her the name of the title company they
use for their loans and market to the title company.

In some small communities I have found a few who are not aware the borrower can sign
documents at their home. Some borrowers are still going to the mortgage company to
sign their loan documents and are not aware the mobile notary option is available.
While it is rare to find this situation the fact exists that in smaller towns and
communities they are still behind the times. In a situation like this, you will need
to educate the company (who is responsible for having the documents signed by the
borrowers) as to the convenience a mobile notary can provide to them as well as the
borrowers.

50 STATE NOTARY OPENS DISTRIBUTION OFFICE
FOR BOOKS

Now that I have written and published two books (and about to release a 3rd book in
December) my small home office became too inefficient to handle the shipping and
distribution of orders that are received on a daily basis.

When Gloria Joyce (my good friend of 19 years) saw that I was working 16-18 hour days
without any time off, she offered to set up a distribution center from her home office
so that she could ship all book orders and keep track of inventory. On September 10
we completed the set-up and now orders are processed faster and with more efficiency.

Gloria has been a God-send and she has helped the company to maintain its reputation
for high-quality products that are delivered fast and efficiently. If you have
ordered from 50 State Notary in the past and have experienced delays, please accept my
apologies. Situations like this occur when a company is going through growth spurts.
However, we now have a process in place where delayed shipments should be a thing of
the past.

If you would like to see a photo of Gloria Joyce so you can put a face with a name,
she appears on the front cover of my new book, How to Start a Bankruptcy Forms
Processing Service. Go to http://www.bankruptcybook.net to see the book cover.

NOTARY TIDBITS

I was surfing the internet this week and I found a search engine that I never heard of
before. It was http://www.newbies.com/ At first I didnt realize what it was, but I
typed the word notary in the search box, glanced through a few pages and found
another website I had never heard of called E-Mail Notary at http://www.readnotify.com

It turns out this company sells a software for email tracking. On their website they
have a link About ReadNotify. On that page it gives an explanation of ReadNotify
is the most powerful and reliable email tracking service that exists today. In short -
ReadNotify tells you when email you sent gets read / re-opened / forwarded and so much
more.

I have not had the time to download and try this program out but the reason I
mention it is because I wanted to keep you up-to-date on new electronic signature
technology as it is being developed.

I receive several questions from emails about my thoughts on the new electronic
signature technology. But it is impossible for me to answer this question. Thats
because no one (at this time) has any idea of how electronic signature technology will
precisely emerge. There are so many companies working on a variety of different ideas
that it is impossible for me to predict what idea will lead the pack.

However, when I found this little software program under the search word of notary I
decided to pass it along so you can check it out for yourself. Wouldnt it be
interesting to see this type of technology become mainstream in the electronic
signature technology process? Perhaps? I dont know. But one thing is certain
e-notarizations are definitely on the horizon.

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

Jeremiah, Chapter 9, Verses 23-24

Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty
man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that
glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which
exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these
things I delight, saith the LORD:
