Recently, the MSDN blog section stopped providing full text in its
feeds. On one hand, I am disappointed. I have found the MSDN feeds to
be a great resource. Now it will be a hassle to read each article I
find interesting in the browser. On the other hand, I can understand
the issues. Scoble give a good explanation of why MSDN turned off the
full text. Bandwidth usage was growing faster than MSDN's ability...

Making Feedster Faster (Services)

It looks like Feedster spent Labor Day weekend beefing up. There
are some pretty technical details at Scott's site, including 64 bit
servers, EXT3 vs JFS file systems, but the bottom line is: We now have
a significantly bigger, faster, badder, meaner, (insert descriptive
thing here) core database server. This means that Feedster should now
be substantially faster on indexing, data collection and crawling and
new posts you make should appear in Feedster faster. From... [Continued]

experience. The others feel aesthetically unpleasant, bloated, and
stuck in an interface paradigm that doesn't make sense for RSS. The
kitchen sink is deliberately not included... [Continued]

Peter Rukavina, who lives in Prince Edward Island, Canada, was
tired of forgetting what books were due when at his local library. So
he wrote a program in Perl to scrape his library's web site and
generate an RSS feed he could subscribe to. Although this example will
only work with the system that Peter's library uses (it could be
modified to work with other library systems), I expect to see more of
this as... [Continued]
