I've been working in a test lab environment to research a book on adware, spyware, and malware lately and have found myself setting up and tearing down machines on a regular basis. I've learned that the size limits on the
disk space allocated to Windows XP restore points means I can capture about 7 or 8 days' worth of snapshots at one per day, or up to that number in total if I elect to make more than the automatic one that's generated for me
daily. I'm curious to know if anybody's ever figured out how to either increase the disk allocation for such snapshots, copy them elsewhere in reusable form, or otherwise raise the ceiling on the number that one is
allowed to keep around. In the meantime, I'm using Norton Ghost to shoot copies of my boot/system disk to a USB 2.0-attached 160GB drive (since I have less than 12 GB of stuff on that drive, I can stuff about a dozen copies onto my drive before I have to start overwriting them). If other
folks have better ideas on how to keep disk images or special setups around in relatively large numbers, please
