MARID Anti-Spam Standards Body Disbands
Contentious proceedings led the group's leaders to concede
they would not be able to form a consensus, and now the
group will be disbanded. MARID had been working on a system
of authentication for SMTP, considered an essential change
if a solution is to be found to spam and other systemic
problems in e-mail.
Experts expect a variety of approaches to be tried now, many
proprietary. The hope is that out of the chaos will emerge
a clear leader around which the industry may coalesce.
