What is a netmeeting? It is a meeting you can attend without leaving your home or office. You simply call a telephone number at the meeting time, key in a meeting code and immediately you are connected with everyone else attending the meeting. If you want to experience the visual aspect of the meeting, you will need to be able to access the internet while you are on the telephone. However, you can still attend by telephone and participate verbally or just listen in. The first netmeeting was held on Thursday, September 23 and we had a full house. Everyone enjoyed the lively discussion which covered topics from collecting monies from non-paying signing companies to working with SwiftViewer and other readers we encounter working with edocuments. One notary told us how to go to http://www.hp.com to download the right driver for using these viewers and another notary gave us his insight into working for Sign-on-The-X (a company that is very slow in paying notary signing agents). The second netmeeting was held on Friday, September 24. This discussion was centered around the topic of notaries providing bankruptcy petition preparation services to attorneys nationwide. I answered questions from the attending notaries and explained how bankruptcy document preparation relates to the notary signing agent job. The big difference is that you do NOT need to leave your home to prepare the bankruptcy forms and you deliver them by PDF electronically to the attorney. ATTEND THE NEXT NETMEETING The next netmeeting will be held on October 6. To sign up, do the following: 1. Go to http://www.anniemae.org/index.cfm?id=10018 2. Click on MEETING (top of screen) 3. Click on REGISTER 4. Type your email address in the box and click on SUBMIT If you are not a member of AnnieMae you will be taken to a sign-up screen to enter your information. It does not cost anything to attend the meeting. If you are a member of Annie Mae, you will be taken to the page listing the different netmeetings. Click on the REGISTER link beside the netmeeting: Bankruptcy Processing Service - by Victoria Ring. You will receive the telephone number and registration code so you can attend the meeting. ________________________________________________ ANNIE MAE TO ESTABLISH ATTORNEY AND NOTARY SERVICE NETWORK Gary Drury at Annie Mae <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> is in the process of setting up another service designed to help notary signing agents make more money. That service is detailed in my new book, How to Start a Bankruptcy Forms Processing Business. Like most of you, I also started out working as a notary signing agent in the year 2000 but my income fluctuated so drastically from month-to-month that I knew I had to add on additional services in order to provide more stability to my income. I built my signing agent company up to a steady $5,000 per month in income but I became burned out doing 2 or 3 signings every day over a long period of time. This is when the attorney I was working for offered me the opportunity to work from my home processing his bankruptcy petitions. This gave me the idea to market the service to other bankruptcy attorneys. I charged $150 for every Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition I drafted for them. The attorney normally charged the client $1,500 so the attorney still earned 90% of the fee and was happy to save money using my services. >From the year 2000 to the beginning of 2002, I worked as a notary signing agent as >well as processing bankruptcy petitions for the attorneys. In 2002 I found I was >earning more money processing the petitions so I subcontracted out my signing agent >jobs. By the beginning of 2003, I was so busy with the petition business that I had >hired five full-time employees to help me and I was working a minimum of 16 hours >every day. My purpose in writing How to Start a Bankruptcy Forms Processing Business is to provide notaries with the same opportunities I have had so they can make as much or more money than I ever did. Gary Drury at Annie Mae recognized the potential of this service so he and his team are working hard to put together a network. This network will allow an attorney to send out a request. This request is matched with a trained bankruptcy forms processor who will draft the petition. The forms processor will be paid electronically by bank draft. This service is still being developed at the time of this writing but Gary hopes to have it ready for testing within 45 days. In the meantime, you have this window of opportunity to obtain your basic training so you can immediately go to work drafting bankruptcy petitions for attorneys. This basic training is provided in my book, How to Start a Bankruptcy Forms Processing Service. Go to http://www.bankruptcybook.net to get your copy today so you will be ready to step in and increase your notary income. ________________________________________________ EMAILS AND QUESTIONS FROM NOTARIES Dear Victoria. I went out today giving out my business cards to various different locations. I decided to go to this mortgage company to let them know that I am an independent loan closer. I find that if you say you are a mobile notary, then they seem to not appreciate what you have to offer. To the point, when I was introducing my services, I was told that they use title companies and how would I come into play with the transactions. I asked if they prepared the docs and she stated they did not. She stated that they use title companies to prepare the docs. She was interested but I really didn't have an answer for her. I felt really stupid! I told her that there is a way to work with mortgage companies with my services and would get back with her. She gave me her card and definitely wants me to contact her again. What am I supposed to say? How do I fit in? Thank you so much for being my mentor! Also, I wanted to let you know that for a long time I did not go in person to introduce myself and services. I would either make telephone calls, fax or emails. I have found out that if you go in person and drop off your business cards then your results are a lot faster. On Friday morning, I went to several Beneficial Finance companies and I got 2 branches that showed a positive reaction. Several hours later, I received a telephone call, offering me a closing which pays $75! I was really getting discouraged about all of this because I have not been getting too many calls lately. Once I would get about 3 or 4 lined up, then 2 or 3 would cancel. Bummer! Thank you again, I am sure glad that I found you on the internet. (JC) RESPONSE FROM VICTORIA RING Good for you! I am glad to see you are making an effort to market your notary services. However, every mortgage company works differently. Some mortgage companies use title companies to prepare the documents, others use signing companies and some prepare their own. If the mortgage company told you that the title company is the one that prepares the documents then you need to go to the title company and offer your services. The key is to find out "which" company dispatches out the notary because every one will be different. When you contact the lady at the mortgage company as a follow-up, make sure she understands YOUR role in the process. You take the documents to the borrowers home and have them notarized. You may want to ask her something like: "When you receive the documents back from the title company are they already notarized by the borrowers?" If the answer is "yes" then ask her the name of the title company they use for their loans and market to the title company. In some small communities I have found a few who are not aware the borrower can sign documents at their home. Some borrowers are still going to the mortgage company or bank to sign their loan documents and are not aware the "mobile" notary option is available. While it is rare to find this situation - the fact exists that in smaller towns and communities they are still behind the times. In a situation like this, you will need to educate the company (who is responsible for having the documents signed by the borrowers) as to the convenience a mobile notary can provide to them as well as the borrowers. ________________________________________________ NEW COMPANIES TO SIGN UP WITH The following new companies were added to the Nationwide Company Directory this past week at http://www.50statenotary.com/directory/company_listing06.html 1. I am sure many notaries in our family are being evacuated from their homes and some may even lose everything they own, including their lives. The hurricanes have not only hurt the economy in Florida, but the pain goes much deeper than that. I am sure the economy is the last thing on a persons mind when their home is leveled and the area they live in looks like a war zone. I urge everyone to join in prayer for our family of notaries in Florida today and Sunday as well as remembering all the other residents who are enduring a very hard time due to the hurricanes that have hit Florida in the past few weeks. ________________________________________________ BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK Hebrews, Chapter 11, Verse 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Read online at http://www.servantofjesuschrist.com/kjv1611/hebrews/chapter_11.html ________________________________________________ OF INTEREST TO NOTARIES: Get listed in the Nationwide Notary Directory http://www.50statenotary.com/directory/order_getlisted.html BOOK: How to Start, Operate and Market a Freelance Notary Signing Agent Business ISBN: 1-9761591-0-4 http://www.50statenotary.com/book/index.html BOOK: How to Start a Bankruptcy Forms Processing Service ISBN: 1-9761591-1-2 http://www.50statenotary.com/bankruptcybook/index.html FREE: 50 State Notary Desktop Guard Dog http://www.50statenotary.com/freegift/index.html Join the National Notary Association http://www.nationalnotary.org/supplies/index.cfm?referID=A23039 Join the Annie Mae Network http://www.anniemae.org/index.cfm?id=10018 Locate a Notary: View the Nationwide Notary Directory http://www.50statenotary.com/directory/index.html View previous issues of this ezine: The Notary News http://www.50statenotary.com/ezine/index.html Jobs for Notary Signing Agents (updated weekly) http://www.50statenotary.com/directory/company_listing.html Free Introductory Signing Agent Training Course http://www.50statenotary.com/training/index.html My Notary Story Tips from Experienced NSAs http://www.50statenotary.com/mystory/index.html Free Download of the King James Bible http://www.servantofjesuschrist.com/kjv1611/download.html Visit Victoria Rings other websites http://www.victoriaringconsulting.com/ http://www.graphicopublishing.com/ -------------------------------------- Victoria Ring Certified Notary and Paralegal http://www.50statenotary.com Phone: 614-491-9831, Fax: 614-491-9832 _____________________________ Unsubscribe: http://www.ymlp.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED] Hosting by http://www.yourmailinglistprovider.com
