***The latest global economic competitiveness numbers are out. Where does your country rank? Following the metals markets, the euro, too, falls to its lowest level in about three weeks ***The stun-gun stock we told you about is up a whopping 50% today. Theres still plenty of momentum remaining. Buy!

Talk about being in the right stock at the right time. Remember last week more specifically on Wednesday, October 6 when I mentioned that Ian Hot Hands Cooper had alerted his EVS readers to a company that could rival Taser with its own stun gun? That stock is up a whopping 50% today on news that human trials of its new stun gun were successful, allowing a user to shock and disable a human target within a range from point-blank to 30 feet without injury. But EVS guru Ian Cooper believes theres still plenty of momentum remaining. You can find out more about the next Taser-style profits play and two other companies that stand to skyrocket before October 20 in the EVS teams latest online report.
This morning at about 6:30 A.M., they had my full attention when the financial news desk announced that gold was selling for 4 dollars and 10 cents an ounce. Confronted by two choices namely that my hearing is slipping or that the purposely hip-sounding man at the mike was a complete moron I went and checked online. No such luck: gold had hit some support near US$410 after speculator and fund buying followed waves of technical sales since Fridays six-month highs.
The US only lags Finland, and is followed by Sweden, Taiwan, Denmark and Norway. The UK placed 11th, Germany ranked 12th, France 27th, and Italy 47th (behind China!). Can Finlands competitiveness alone make up for the less-than-stellar performance of the Eurozone heartland? Following the metals markets, the euro, too, fell to US$1.2226 - its lowest level in about three weeks. After the most recent unsuccessful attempt by that currency to cross the Rubicon at US$1.25, we may be close to a shakeout of the euro bulls.

To
imply that [the Democratic Party] might use something such as the independent
regulatory process of the FCC to exact revenge against media organizations
that they find to be enemies or not supportive of their cause is just astounding.
*** For tomorrow, our indicators present a picture of confusion: With a low range at minus 1.2%, there is the potential for a small upside near 0.5%. Starting with an upside at 13,301.33, the Hang Seng managed to come in at 13,171.58, down 80.01 points (0.60%). For tomorrow, the picture remains muddled, with key indicators pointing at a loss of another 100 points.
Todays nominally negative close should not deceive us that the Nikkei 225 decided to spite our prediction, spending most of the day in the black (posting a high at 11,306.87) before dropping to 11,195.99, down 5.82 points (0.05%). Despite todays withdrawal in oil prices, the indicators expect further declines near 1%.
This just in from Taipans resident Editor-at-Large, Martin Denholm: Anyone out there got a miracle cure for ankle tendonitis? The Boston Red Sox - and specifically the teams number-one pitcher, Curt Schilling - could use one. Of all the fellas I didnt expect to underperform in Game One of the American League Championship Series against the Yankees last night, he was top of the list. Turns out his bum ankle is worse than feared and he might not pitch at all in the rest of the series. Great. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking!
The man with the permanent my dog just died look pioneered two agreements that will greatly improve Franco-Chinese business relations, making deals for Toulouse-based Airbus with Air China and China Eastern Airlines. Under the terms of the deals, Air China will buy six new Airbus A319 planes while purchasing 16 of A330 aircraft. This will net Airbus a cool US$2 billion. China Eastern Airlines will also buy 20 Airbus A330 planes, adding to its fleet and securing its place as Airbuss largest customer in China. From a fleet of just 29 aircraft back in 1985, the company has expanded and now boasts around 250 planes in operation. The fact that several Chinese companies manufacture parts for Airbus planes merely strengthens the aviation ties between the two nations. But that isnt the end of Chiracs commerce sweep. He also brokered a deal for Alstom to supply 60 passenger trains and 180 freight trains to China - a deal worth US$1.2 billion. The company will also provide equipment for three Chinese hydroelectric plants, as well as turbine generators for a nuclear plant. French company Suez also won a major contract to supply the Shangdong region in eastern China with water for the next quarter century by building a new water treatment facility there.
First, Japan, where the Ministry of Finance says the current account surplus swelled 25% to 1.7 trillion yen (US$15.8 billion) in August. This comes courtesy of increased exports from the countrys big players like Toyota, Sony and Canon. In all, exports climbed 2.8% for the month, causing the trade surplus to rise 9.8% to 1.2 trillion yen. Though oil prices having risen some 60% since the start of the year, Japan has managed to increase it fuel efficiency, so the effect is less severe. This includes greater use of alternative resources like natural gas and nuclear power, as well as more fuel-efficient vehicles. Nevertheless, it seems more important than ever that the Bank of Japan maintain its current monetary policy of keeping interest rates at zero in order to stave off a potential slowdown. As you know, this is also meant to banish a six-year deflationary spiral once and for all. Canada also reports a remarkable surge in its 2004 budget surplus for the fiscal year ending March 31 - a C$9.1 billion (US$7.2 billion) excess, five times the governments forecast. It is the countrys seventh straight surplus. Cheers for now.
***Not only is the looming real-estate crash a Big Lie but a new hidden real-estate boom is emerging - and its making some people very rich. Discover the government-issued Secret Certificates that could make you 10 times your money in 5 years.
(Thats good enough to turn 5,000 dollars into 3.5 million in 3 years.)

Title: Ride the stun-gun stock to the top
