The surveyor in questions was not hired by us but by the prospective buyer
so I don't feel comfortable giving out his name.
But if you want to avoid him, avoid surveyors based in St. Augusting.
He has since recanted on his assertion of bad fiberglass.
Here is an e-mail I received as a result of my posting that makes me feel
much, much better about the integrity of hull 284 and Corsair's production
processes.
"Ellen:
I have F-27-F hull number 285! I installed a lower bow eye for the
bow sprit 2 years ago and when i opened the flotation compartment in
the bow there was also a strong scent of glass / resin. Also a few
tablespoons of a thickened condesate 7 resiny looking stuff. I
thought little about it ... cleaned it up aired it out and have no
trouble with my hull. It is secure and strong and goes to Nantucket
from Connecticut every year. No problems and after a year of
checking on it looking for water ingress thru the lower bow eye.. the
scent is gone. The rear flotation compartment smells the same as the
front used to but I only check that the rear once or twice a year as
there is never water there.
