Jan, Butch LeFave here. I'm 'way up north in Japan near Misawa U.S. Air Force Base. I've seen some wooden blocks, but only rarely. What where they use for? As far as the name you mentioned, both me and my Japanese wife are not familiar with the name. Shortly after the Korean War I purchased a complete set of "Tokaido Way" Hirogoshigi original woodblocks from a little old guy selling such things in a little shop near Ginza built into the abutment of a railroad (probably urban). Unfortunately about 38 (My God!!!) years ago they were destroyed in a fire at my mother's home (I was in Vietnam starting fires of my own at the time). Could you go pick up another set for me please?
