1) 10G Ethernet vendors look to stoke demand

10G Ethernet wares aimed at customers seeking to bump up
bandwidth in large data centers and campus backbones.

2) Spyware stoppers target biz networks

Until recently there were no anti-spyware products designed with
large networks in mind - only stand-alone consumer software or
freeware. But consumer-oriented anti-spyware products from
Computer Associates, Tenebril and Webroot are getting beefed up
for enterprise networks.

3) The evolution of IDS

Security advances push intrusion detection deeper into the
network, relegating its role to forensics investigation and
internal monitoring.
DocFinder: 4566

4) Wireless Wizards: Best type of wireless for limited
multimedia use

The Wizards conjure up an answer for this question: Would an
802.11b/g network be adequate for limited multimedia (a few IP
cameras, a few users), or do I need to move to 802.11a?
DocFinder: 4567
<http://www.nwfusion.com/columnists/2004/1108wizards.html>

5) Practitioners unlock the secrets of a growing hobby for
network pros

Amateur lock pickers assure us they're only looking for a
challenge.

7) Test: Network vulnerability assessment management

Eight network scanning tools offer beefed-up management and
remediation. We put them through their paces and report the
results.

8) Data Center Doctors: Virtualization in the data center

The Docs answer the question: What does virtualization mean to a
company, and what are the benefits of being "virtualized?"
DocFinder: 4571
<http://www.nwfusion.com/columnists/2004/110804dcdoctors.html>

9) SMASH simplifies server management

SMASH CLP enables simple and intuitive management of
heterogeneous servers in data centers independent of machine
state, operating system state, server system topology or access
method.

<http://www.nwfusion.com/news/tech/2004/110804techupdate.html>

10) Maximizing your assets

Management software helps firms get a grasp of their IT

service, which is designed to help business customers mitigate
worm and virus attacks on their networks.
DocFinder: 4577
<http://www.nwfusion.com/news/2004/110804att.html>

15) Deployment options put speech within reach

Like home construction alternatives, today's speech deployment
options range from the custom-built to the pre-built. It's
different from in the past, when companies had little choice but
to develop speech applications using one vendor's proprietary
platform and tools - aided in many cases by an army of
consultants.
DocFinder: 4578
<http://www.nwfusion.com/news/2004/110804specialfocus.html>

16) Early adopters: SOA worth the effort

Among the early adopter sect, companies have decided it's worth
the effort it takes to migrate to an SOA-based infrastructure,
one project at a time. Along the way, some have found SOA
paybacks with reusable services to accelerate and lower the cost
of development processes.
DocFinder: 4579
<http://www.nwfusion.com/news/2004/110804soapart2.html>

17) Reactivity enhances Web gateway OS

Reactivity this week is set to release operating system
enhancements for its Web services security gateway intended to
provide corporations with the performance and interoperability
they need to expand Web services deployments across their own
networks or through projects with partners.

18) BigFix mixes systems and patch mgmt.

storage-area networks.

<http://www.nwfusion.com/news/2004/110804storage.html>

20) Summer blues slow Q3 venture funds

Venture capital investments in network companies and other IT
vendors dipped during the third quarter, a traditionally slow
period for such funding. A few sweet spots in the industry
continued to attract most of the dollars.
DocFinder: 4583
<http://www.nwfusion.com/news/2004/110804venturesurvey.html>
