Good Housekeeping's Site of the Day

The Gardener's Network, Information, Content, Community
http://www.gardenersnet.com/index.htm

Autumn is a great time to garden, to plan your leafing trip, to begin planning 'a yard full of beautiful spring-flowering bulbs' including garlic, to bird-watch and even get ready for Thanksgiving and pumpkin pie (the Pumpkin Nook is a necessary click!).  There's a wealth of information found on the Gardener's Network on just about any subject dealing with gardening.  Additionally, the 'Gardening Notes' provide interesting tidbits did you know that if deer are invading your garden, a trip to the barbershop for discarded human hair will ward them off!  With a resource like this one, you have no excuse for not developing your green thumb!

You have to treat everything with irony, especially the things you hold dear. There's more of a chance then that they'll survive. That is perhaps one of the greatest secrets of our life.

Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975)
Composer

Our veterinarian gave us the following instructions for our cat, Friday, who was scheduled for surgery: "Don't give Friday any food after 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Bring Friday in first thing Thursday morning. You can pick him up Thursday evening. But if you want, Friday can also stay until Friday."
