Check the permissions of this registry key, I had to give full control of
this key to the user.
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows nt\current version\perflib
Navigate to the key, right click, choose permissions, add the asp.net user
with full rights

Nope no exception is thrown. I've tried this on two servers now with the
same results. The processModel account has the appropriate registry
access.
