Tom, I didn't get that far north when looking for a new wintering site although
I traveled through La Vegas and Pahrump, NV on my way to the Slabs. Pahrump had
all sorts of possibilities with lots of RV parking, good shopping potential,
and for those who like to watch the green stuff flow, plenty of casinos.
Looking for other sites, I drove around and looked at the Imperial Dam and
nearby Colorado River LTVAs along with some National Forests in southern Calif.
I had wintered in Coronado Natl Forest last winter, so I was more familiar with
Arizona than Calif, but I didn't want to stay at a crowded area like Quartzsite
nor did I want to move every two weeks as BLM requires (it may not enforce
this, however, from what I've heard). Turns out there's a number of these small
isolated RV parks in western Arizona for reasonable cost: I'm paying $1 per
night and I indicated earlier, this place is great. If there's a downside to
it, I haven't found it yet and security is absolutely no
 issue.
