You didn't ask me to take pics; I've been on and off this list for more than a
year, but you didn't ask me to take photos when I. Otherwise, I would have been
happy to. Tell you what, next time you're there, you take some pics and upload
them to the photos section. You DO have a camera, yes?

I Googled Slab City before I traveled to there. The above URLs are just a few
of the many websites I checked out before heading west to Slab City. One will
note that they all paint very rosy pictures of SC, but never mention the
downsides: the filthy conditions, the security problems, and the too-many
criminals and low-life anti-socials who live there permanently. It very well
might be that the conditions I observed were relatively recent or have worsened
over the summer. If so, I am sorry for those people who had developed a
differing image of the Slabs and had had a good experience there in earlier
years.

John, I cannot find a single line in any of my posts where I disparaged you or
treated you with anything less than full respect. Yet, you continue to heap
flames on me. If you are attempting to earn respect, this isn't the way to do
it. It seems to me that your attitude is typical of some of those who live
permanently at the Slabs and prey upon others. And quite possibly, you don't
even respect yourself, let alone other people.

So, you have NOT been to the Slabs recently. Otherwise, you would have so
stated. If the filth now at the Slabs is worse than it was in previous years, I
hope you won't be disappointed when you return. If it is comparable to previous
years, then you'll fit right in.

Not against burglars for whom a locked door or a chained generator just slows
them down a little. It's not the same as having 49 others watching out for each
other in the same barracks bay nor having unit integrity where barracks or
other thieves were harshly dealt with. Maybe the Slabs needs a few blanket
parties.

No, I didn't get that impression until after I had been at the Slabs for a
couple days. The low-lifes didn't get very far with me.

I agree - and I didn't like being associated with those who rightly earned the
label, so I departed. And many thanks for forwarding and confirming the opinion
of the local Sheriff's Dept of which I had only guessed earlier. It seems, John
that you are proud of being considered a low-life whether you deserve it or not
although from your words presenting your narrow and negative opinion of anyone
who disagrees with you that you have fully earned the title.

If you had the same attitudes toward other Marines that you have now toward
others, I suspect you had velcro on your stripes and didn't get very favorable
EERs. But, if you spent that long in RVN, there's little wonder you're having
problems controlling your PTSD.

>Your generator

You haven't heard my generator. You'd probably be the first one to complain.
I'm an amiable person and get along with most personality types, particularly
within Scouting and ham radio, but if someone is bound and determined not to
get along with me (like you, John), I just leave them alone and let them go
through life as the pariahs they choose to be. As stated before, my new
location is largely comprised of other retired professional people and there is
no disharmony among us.

If you quack like a duck, waddle like a duck, smell like a duck, and look like
a duck, you're probably a duck. John, I suspect you are in fact a textbook
example of a low-life, easily identifiable by your anti-social attitudes. And
this must make you very proud.

Since I've applied for dual citizenship, have spent many wonderful springs,
summers, and falls in Labrador (I fly a Labrador flag here in AZ), and have a
Canadian callsign, I can safely state that I would have gotten along wondrously
with the Canadians.

Many thanks to those who sent such positive responses and support offlist. It
is unfortunate that the Slabs has evolved to such a derelict condition
populated with so many derelict people who live there year round; it had so
much potential which, in previous years was apparently realized, but as the
forces of anti-socials continue to dominate, it will only get worse.

Fortunately, there are dozens or hundreds of other freebie or low-cost
long-term RVing areas besides the Slabs where one doesn't have to worry about
camping in squalor nor having one's RV broken into nor have to put up with
others who make a deliberate effort to alienate their neighbors.

Please don't bother responding to this post. I will be delisting myself as soon
as this clears Yahoo. I will be switching my interests to the freeboondocking
list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freeboondocking/ which I understand was
created as an alternative to John's negativity and rather irritating
anti-social behavior.
