Stolen Boat. I went to board my boat today only to find an empty stretch of water! BW have denied any knowledge of the 'incident' so I can only conclude the boat has been stolen.
It was tied close to Tesco Stores in Warwick and is a 60' Braunston Canal Services (Roger Farringdon) trad style narrowboat with separate back cabin and engine room together with a main cabin. In normal rig it has a backcabin chimney, pigeon box and vertical exhaust on the roof with a rather tatty mid-green forward cockpit cover. For those with a good working knowledge of the waterways, it sports Ron Hough roses on the main cabin sides and the back cabin interior is completely decorated in his distinctive style. Its name is LYNX but this is not yet painted on the cabin sides following its change of name. The forward part of the boat is painted dark green with yellow lining out while the back cabin and engine room are a red oxide colour (actually International Floor Paint) which is covering the previous name. The green is surrounded with very tatty scumbling on the left side whereas that on the right hand side is surrounded with a pale green background. Registration number is 71679 on the standard BW plates which are/were placed (loose) in the forwardmost side windows of the main cabin until completion of the painting of the rear end. They may, of course have been removed by the thief! No licence or mooring permit is displayed. If you have seen, or suspect you have seen, the boat in the last few days please contact: The police on 01926 451111. The owner on 07749 229608, or email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] Further details of the boat, with pictures, on my website http://www.jim-storey.freeuk.com Please keep a lookout.
