With respect to my forthcoming visit to the UK, I'm wondering how I'm
going to get internet access, both on boat and off.

>From my research, it appears that using "wireless hotspots" is a bit
costly, so never mind that.

Mobile phone internet is slow, and also appears costly, at least for
the Pay As You Go (non-contract) plan I'll need to use.  I did, though,
find reference to an Orange feature that purports to be 1 GBP/day for
unlimited usage.  This would least allow some (murderously slow) web
surfing in addition to email.

However, details of that on the Orange website are hard to find and
sketchy.  Is anyone using this?  (I initially saw it mentioned on a
uk telecom newsgroup).

Other suggestions welcomed.
