I don't think it does, but I only have the set for eavesdropping and
occasional contact with the bridge keepers on the G&S. I did not try to
transmit from Lydney, it was another handheld on an adjacent boat. I
suppose I should have followed up his failure with an attempt on my
radio but the second shot was to use the accompanying cruiser's fixed
set with high mount aerial.

Also the other crew's handheld could have been set to low power.
