A proper aerial rather than a "rubber ducky" makes all the difference.
The latter are very inefficient. We've got a 5/8 wave magmount which
enables us to hear Glos Lock from as far away as Tewkesbury given a
following wind etc. Height is nice, but hard to achieve on a nb!

Might be tempted to join the convoy for the next trial. Paul is talking
about the latter half of May.
