Further to my earlier comments:

John and Ann were right - this is quite a lovely canal.  In my opinion,
there is much more scenic beauty here than on the famous Llangollen.
(Now I haven't cruised oop north on the L&L and such so I can't compare
to those.)

Those of you used to speeding along normal canals at 4 mph will need to
readjust to this one's typical 2 mph, due to shallowness.  However,
even at that low speed, there's still many good views that go by
too quickly for a picture.

The usual canal happenings took place:

- too much rain!  And on one day, two five minute hail storms, at widely
separated times, of BB-sized hailstones.
- winding fun.  A 20 mph wind (with higher gusts) blowing directly down
the canal where we had to wind at Brecon (the terminus).  Made winding
very challenging.  Finally done after 15 minutes.
- re-staking an unoccupied boat that had managed to completely
block the canal
- a lock that wouldn't quite fill - reported to BW

The rain and chilly wind conditions make me curious, when I have a
chance, to read up more on single-handing, in particular, how to
keep the boat in position in a lock when no one on board is in
control.  With only one set of wet gear abroad, it was difficult
to talk Adele into coming out of the cabin!  Twice I managed locks
myself by filling them really slowly.  But when other boats were
around, that was not an option, so Adele came out and got a bit
soaked.

Finally today was mostly sunny and warmish, so we had a good late
morning and early afternoon cruise, followed by a nice walk
around Crickhowell, including tea at a bakery.  In the early
evening, I hiked up the old tram road and remains of an
inclined plane for a panoramic view of the Crickhowell area.

By the way, right on Brecon Basin is a nice restaurant named
Tipple and Tiffin.  Interesting food at reasonable prices.
For instance, we had "Char grilled organic salmon on mixed
pepper risotto with a pesto dressing" for 9 GBP.
