I should mention that on this canal, even a moment's inattention to
the tiller (e.g. unzipping the camera from its case) gets one into
trouble.

Should have mentioned here that I *DO NOT* recommend the climb of the
inclined plane site.  It is very steep, with rocks, bare soil, and grass
intermixed, and with water coming down.  To go down, I found another path
leading, in a few hundred yards, to a single track road.  For the view,
it is much safer to use this method in both directions.
