Day - Saturday
Start - Isis Pub Ifley Lock
End - Rock of Gibraltar S Oxford canal
Had a slow start as I'm a year older today and didn't set off until about
10-30. There were loads of rowers on the river between here and Oxford,
some very careful and considerate and some not, just like the one that
insisted in going all the way up to the bridge in Oxford before turning even
though 2 narrowboats were coming down through the bridge, one being
Copperkins and us going up. Life would have been fare easier if they had
turned just 50 yards earlier.
We decided to go through Isis lock into the Oxford canal. It has changed
a lot since I last went that way. The boatyard at Jericho has CCTV and
Razor wire and no mooring buoys. There were a few boats with no visible
licences showing but we also saw some rather smart newish boats with 05
gold licences on display. One length of agenda 21 moorings only had one
boat on them and a choice of 2 dozen water taps.
We moored at about 3-30 at the Rock of Gibraltar for the night as a
birthday treat.
The water today has been hot, very hot.
