I wish I had been there. How does all this activity square with the notices on the BW noticeboards, which have apparently been there since last summer, that the entire navigation is closed because of problems at South Kyme Lock until further notice. Presumably the problem, a couple of days before we went there, was the patch coming off. At first it had blocked the gate so that it wouldn't shut, then the next day the gates had been OK but the water was exiting through the hole. Still, who needs a paddle.
