A thought which has been exercising us greatly for the last few days is how say 200 boats are going to get through to St Ives for next year's National in any reasonable time, and even more so, how they are all going to get back in about a week? There can't be that many VMs on the Nene, even doubling up and using all the 'informal' spots, and then there's the problem of Salter's Lode. You can do maybe, what, 5 boats at best in each tidal window? The locky was muttering about it already. Seems there's some talk of sending some out through the Old Bedford River Sluice, after going round the southerly route through the Middle Level and through Welche's Dam, but that is also limited by the tide, of course.
