Day 22 - Saturday 15th July 2006 We did some limited shopping in the newsagents at Wheaton Aston. Apparently, the owner is selling up, so there was very little left on the shelf. We stayed to see the parade, but didn't realise that the cheap diesel place (43.5ppl) closed at 14:00 on Saturday, so we couldn't fill our spare containers. We'll wait until Barton Turns, where it's currently 47ppl, unless we come across cheaper.
Dad decided he wanted to go to Midland Chandlers at Penkridge, but we would be passing on Sunday one the boat when it is closed. Instead he got out his folding bike, leaving at Breewood, the Tomtom showed it was a 5 mile journey, but of course the boatyard is the other side of Penkridge. Dad didn't make it in time before they closed, and so started back to the boat along the towpath. I continued down the Shroppie, and turned onto the Staffs and Worcs, and we then spend the next few hours trying to get back to each other. We finally met near the Hatherton branch junction, where we moored for the night. I finally got around to having a look at the engine, while Dads folding bike wasn't on the cover, and found a load of oil in the bilge.
