A second hand eyewitness report as at 21:00 tonight suggests that the basins are closed for the time being but no reference to the fire service. The level is down by almost a foot apparently arising from heavy volume of transfers between the basins and the river at the weekend. The problem seems to be the cill clearance, although a couple of hire boats were allowed down this pm. I suppose the problem is the lack of water on the S&W and perhaps a fire elsewhere (Kidderminster ?) haas consumed some volume. It is rumoured the re-opening will hinge on the arrival of new water from the Shroppie which will take a little while ! Boats in the basin itself are still floating. Someone else said that a report exists on Narrowboat World but I'm not wasting my bits seeking that one out.
