AFAIK yeast relies on anaerobic respiration (which is why you fit a trap
in home winemaking) and will be outcompeted by aerobic bacteria in an
open vessel. In any case I don't think the amounts of beer (or milk)
generated by cleaning up a nb are going to be critical; after all dead
ducks and fish are full of organic goodness, let alone what they dump
into the water! I assume no-one is going to go round fitting ducks and
fish with nappies?

Large quantities of slurry or beer (there is a difference) would
probably have an effect through the population explosion of decomposing
bacteria.
