Sorry guys but everything described upto now is Ventilation not
Cavitation!
Two other places to check for air getting to the prop are-
Via the Weedhatch cover seal
and 
at the backof the boat in the centre! ie directly over the prop wash.
Believe it or not ventilation on my boat is reduced by running without
an "anticavitation" plate in the bottom of the weedhatch box.
