I was once in the at the far end of the bottom basin at Ellesemere Port and
getting ready to leave when I noticed that the wind was blowing straight
down the length of the dock so I used the engine to put the boat crossways
whence it travelled the full length of the dock sideways, I only had to
engage forward at the end to leave through the arm. The boat did the
manoeuvre wonderfully, exactly as planned - the only thing was that nobody
was watching, there again if they had been it probably gone awfully wrong!
