Yes, i think we would be the boat that best fits the description 
"slow coal powered steam narrowboat that was built along the lines of 
a dutch barge"

And yes we where at the IWA national, having steamed down the GU from 
anderton, via braunston, and up the thames from limehouse.

Shes on her way home, and actally currently moored at the bottom or 
rodger fullers garden in stone after an epic four day stint from 
banbury, crewed by me and a mate from uni.

We do ussaully take it a bit steady, as although the engine has more 
than enough power, the boiler is unable to keep up full speed for 
very long, and coal consumption becomes uneconomical if you try to 
fire it really hard for very long.
 - Also, she does draw the best part of 3ft, so espicaially on 
smaller canals, such as the oxford, higher speeds are not practical 
anyway.

That said, if fired well she can quite happly maintain 5mph in open 
water.
