We have, and it's not as bad as you'd think, since most of the water
runs from under the boats - bit like the Thames locks where the
paddles cover most of the bottom part of the gates. You do have to be
ready on the throttle though, as there is a good initial surge - it's
good fun, and still possible with the right people using the right
technique on the manual gates.

Of course, it still takes ages to get the gate high enough to get out
of the lock.
