Keeping up? It's as much as I can do to GET up recently with all the work
I'm doing. Fact is, I don't even know where Shoteham is. And in truth, apart
from Chichester, even West Sussex is a bit of an abstract concept in my
mind. I mistrust counties that feel the need to divide themselves like this
anyway. We don't talk about West Leicestershire, do we? Or if we do it's
only by way of separating ourselves from Leicester itself where the brutish
populations of the outlying estates, and the packs of savage dogs they
harbour as pets, might just as well exist on a different planet. Or West
Sussex, at least.
