Winches are common on UK tidal locks, which normally have larger gates than normal thanks in part to the tidal range, if not the larger size of chamber. I have never seen the butterfly valves idea in the UK, and for good reason, I think, as it looked hard work. > The story about the management having to smoke out the boats in the > Paw Paw tunnel was great! I doubt it as well, time was money (well it still is), and so after a quick fisticuffs one would quickly back down, I would think! > one other nice touch was near the start where the video uses old > footage of the reflection of mules hauling along on the tow path > under new footage of the guy on his bike in the same spot. Yes, there were many nice touches in the video, some shots were highly technical (for eg crossing the aqueduct, panning around our host as he cycled along). It was nicely edited together, and narrated professionally - though I found it a little cheesy at times (perhaps it was on purpose). I found the pace very fast at times, but probably as I was interested in other things. Mike -- Michael Askin http://shoestring.zapto.org/ Yahoo!
