Point taken but I think that although this may happen in some of the very 
large multinational and utility companies in the main most organisations 
would view such a major mess up as a sackable offence or at least a very 
large demotion. Given what appears to have happened surely the individuals 
involved are not fit to manage and should not be in positions of 
responsibility any longer.  There are a lot of repercussions to this. Don't 
forget however that while these people still have their well paid jobs the 
BW employees and their families will not and no doubt this will cause untold 
anguish,worry and hardship.
I heard Mr Evans this morning on the radio and he presented IMHO a very 
sanitized version of the problems not mentioning why the grant had been cut. 
I am sure the very robust interviewers on the today program would love to 
question a government spokesman if they were aware that DEFRA's incompetence 
and an EU fine was causing a major threat to our much loved English 
waterways which are not just enjoyed by boaters but a cross section of the 
whole population.
