Having looked at several of the postings on this matter it occurred to
Julian and myself this weekend that the possibility of a hijack has got
to be an important consideration in the choice of a protest location.
We were mulling about a November event at Berkhampstead, with Debbi and
Simon, as there are a lot of members of the public always walking and
fishing the canal at Berko as well as the town being a favoured short
term mooring spot. However, knowing that there is a prominent local
'Save our Wharf' campaign means that any SOW event held there is likely
to get hijacked.

Ideally any location needs to be within half a days travelling to allow
most boats (belonging to gainfully employed people) to arrive around
Saturday lunchtime and depart again on Sunday lunchtime. There may, of
course, be other boaters who can carry the flag for both full days but
it is my experience that Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings are the
best times to find the passing public enjoying the canalside during nice
weather - usually with kids in tow.

Any campaign balloons available?
