Is it true they forget your length and let you into ports that normally do 
not allow anything over 15m?

I expect you have done the narrow and shallow Canal D'Ourcq and shimmied 
under all the lift bridges? :-)
Having had a waste of time trip to Paris to look at a barge in Arsenal 
Basin, we spent Sunday morning watching the traffic going round Ile De La 
Cite and Ile St-Louis.
Although a bit scary, hardly worse than going through London on the tideway.
