Hi Guy,
Yes you inspired me to think of taking Oak & Ash down. :-)
However while the southern Oxford is open throughout all January, the
stoppages on Waterscape list a number of locks on the River Thames closed
through till mid February. It is not just one stoppage where you might be
able to talk a window into it, but several. However in any case I would be
dubious about using the Thames in January when on a tight schedule and
unable to tie up if it rises and still get down in time and I would be on a
tight schedule.
The Grand Union to London is open, but only until 8th January.
Unfortunately I do not think I can get from Warwick to London in 4 1/2 days,
not in the winter. I have a New Years Cruise booked which does not see me
available to set off from Warwick till 10.00 a.m. at the earliest on 3rd
January.
After 8th January The Grand Unoion it is closed in a number of places it
might be possible to slip between them but it would need careful planing
and support from BW and still I would probably not get back to Warwick till
late February at the earliest and I need to be certain I can get back to
Warwick straight after the protest.
However if you decide to go for it and can use a lock wheeler used to
working in all weather for just food then I can possibly fit in a few days.
All the best
Martin Reed.
