Red diesel is not going BUT we will not be able to use it for propulsion
after officially Jan 1st.

Red will continue to be available for farmers and commercial boats and for
heating on pleasure boats.

So if you have diesel heating you will need two tanks if you don't want to
use white diesel for heating.

Bio diesel is available and may well work in many engines, however at
present there is no colour or marker in it so it can only be sold at the
full tax paid rate, I have just bought some at £0.79L delivered to the
moorings for my car. If I wish to use it in the boat and get it at the tax
rebated price I will have to apply to HMCE to get a 24pL rebate and I will
have to prove that I used it other than on the road.

So all in all if all goes according to plan and I manage to get the tax back
my propulsion diesel will only go up by about 10pL

Who has two tanks on the barge and has been researching bio diesel for quite
a while.
