Looks like burning plastic because of the black smoke - foam insulation? 
My guess is that most flames are coming out of the cratch because it's 
likely to have had wooden doors which would burn through first. Perhaps 
an electrical fault which ignited insulating foam or soft furnishings? 
>From the description there doesn't seem to have been anyone around from 
the boat itself, so presumably it wouldn't have been a cooker or heater 
left on?
