Yes, the earth lead should be earthed to the hull next to everything 
else.
 - Note, 'next to', not 'with'.  Same area, diffrent eather tag.

Yes, and the switch should be a DPDT switch, to switch both live and 
neutral. And must also be a "break-before-make" type or one with a 
center-off possition. To avoid any possablity of the two inputs ever 
being conected together.
 - Also, if you have large inverter (over 4kw) you will switch 
capable of more than 16amps.
