I would also enforce the "you proberbly dont need a fast pc" and
"you'd be better off with more ram" comments.

I use my PC more than almost anyone else i know, including a degree
of gaming, and the use of pritty "demanding" CAD packages.
- However, the PC its self is about 4/5 years old, and cost me £200
two years ago.
- Just under what i spent on each of the two moniters it
drives! (and the mouse was £50)

On the ram front, any decent new PC today should at least a gigabit
(1GB, 1024mb, thousade meg) of RAM.
- They all get sold as a "3.8Ghz powerPC" but in reality, without a
suitable amount of ram, its all pointless numbers!
- Its like having really huge 10L V8 engine, and sticking the
carbouretter off your lawn mower on it.
- Not sensable, and not going anywhere! Espically if you then slap
windows XP on it! (Runs away from Vista at speed)

For reference, my is as follows:
Althon Xp 1800+ (1400mhz)
2*265mb of pc3200 RAM (512mb in total)
ATI 9600pro 128mb (grahpics card)
- And then two 19" Samsung TFT moniters.
- And the logitech MX510 optical mouse...
