So you'd be comfortable with the level of road traffic regulation we have applied to canals? There is a qualitative difference between the two, based on the fact that there are so many more cars than boats in use; and that most of the journeys on canals are done for pleasure, whereas most of those done on roads are for work. Yet the level of regulation on canals creeps ever upwards, and increasingly people do as you do, and use the example of the roads to justify application to the canals.
