BW has said that there will be a six-month pilot test of auctions,
starting this summer. This will apply only to its directly-managed
moorings (i.e. not those of BWML), which are mostly on-line. All of
these moorings that become vacant during that period will be
auctioned. BW expects about 300 of its moorings will become vacant
during that period.

The auctions will be open (i.e everyone will be able to see the
highest bid to date at all times), and will be conducted on the
internet, through the Waterscape web site. BW has said it will make
arrangements for those without internet access to participate in the
auctions.

BW has agreed also to test, separately, a hard-copy sealed-bid
approach.
