The journey to LV was full of surprises, the worst was the diesel filters becoming blocked, up due to some dirty fuel I inadvertantly put in the tank a couple of weeks earlier! This made us late in arriving.
I booked to join the "parade" of boats and entered for the best decorated boat. I was very surprised to be awarded the "Runner Up" prize for this event and recieved a bottle of wine. I was told not to go away from Horse Ferry Bridge, where the prizes were being presented. Next, "Pengalanty" came up again. I went forward and received the "Silver Cup Trophy" for the Best Illuminated Boat! I couldn't believe my luck. Toni and I stayed to see the other prizes being given out and my name was called yet again! I had won the Trophy for the boat handling competition, part of which was a 360 degrees turn and going astern. A hat trick! It still hasn't properly sunk in but I am delighted. I always did think I had a good boat which handled superbly, due to the special design of the stern swim and the unique propeller that Crower's cast and finished for me with blades that slope backward about 10 degrees and matched to the engine maximum thrust. To cap it all, (a wonderful surprise) I received a DVD from Mike Stevens, with 4 different boats performing their skills at boat handling, one being Pengalanty. This is the first time I have seen my boat as a spectator. It truly does have good acceleration and seems to have ABS brakes as it stops so quickly; a boon to any boat competition.
