If you want a quite time with no agro, moor overnight at the bottom of Marple
locks then make an early start, enjoys the beautiful lower Peak Forrest canal
and get to the top of Fairfied locks without delay. proceed down the locks into
Manchester. If the children are at school then you should have no problems and
in any event this section is not as bad as it is often made out to be, but be
vigilant have camera and mobile phone handy. If you feel energetic you can also
knock off the Rochdale nine locks, your intinery did not suggest that you
wanted to go to Sowerby Bridge, you can moor at the top of the Rochdale nine to
pontoons that have secure gated access (BW sani key) and have access into the
city centre. If you go down the locks a good mooring should be available in the
Castlefield basins. Once thro this section you should not have problems. Enjoy
your trip.
