There have been a number of breaches on the Llangollen in my memory, and 
they always need to culvert the water because of the canal's water supply 
function.  I know there was one in 2004, and some more dramatic ones rather 
earlier, in the 1980s I think  -  certainly before we first cruised it in 
1989 because I remember looking at where it had been repaired.
