Usually the toothbrush is charged by placing it in an electro-magnetic
field (EMF) created within the charging base, there are no electrical
connections between the two items as that would make the toothbrush
unsafe in a damp environment.
In order for the EMF to do it's work properly it requires a nice even
constant sine wave and the modified square wave output of most non pure
sinewave invertors is just not good enough.
