Got to disagree with you on that one Ron.
We used to have a Thompson 12V TV on Jannock. Nice picture but it
switched itself off every time someone flushed the loo. It was also a
pain to get switched on if the batteries were anything lass than 100%.
Replaced it with an LCD panel TV/monitor with a 12V regulator in circuit
and that is terrific. The regulator continues to deliver a constant 12V
output even if the input Voltage is dropped below 10V. 
Therefore nominal 12V equipment is fine as long as you don't connect it
straight to the battery. There is a technical revue of the regulator on
