We did it in six days a couple of years ago, without
doing long days in the way we used to (ten hours
of cruising). Perhaps hire companies expect their 
customers to start at 10 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m.
We reckon to go for about seven or eight hours a day.
There are just the two of us, hindered by the dog.
