The letter information fron the IWA survey suggesting 25% of
fuel is used for electricity generation is possibly about right for a number
of boats. RBOA also did a survey and have passed their information to HMRC,
this suggests that for the boats completing the survey 60% of fuel is used
for domestic purposes (heating, cooking and electricity generation).

A while ago Mike Stevens wrote that he would be submitting an analysis of
his fuel consumption and it's usage. In my response I have also included an
analysis of my fuel consumption over the past 3 years and what it's use has
been. I hope that many other boaters responses will include sufficient data
on fuel usage to allow HMRC to make a better judgement on considering a
lower rate of duty.
