Thanks for the link to this page. The letter information fron the IWA survey suggesting 25% of fuel is used for electricity generation is possibly about right for a number of boats. RBOA also did a survey and have passed their information to HMRC, this suggests that for the boats completing the survey 60% of fuel is used for domestic purposes (heating, cooking and electricity generation).
A while ago Mike Stevens wrote that he would be submitting an analysis of his fuel consumption and it's usage. In my response I have also included an analysis of my fuel consumption over the past 3 years and what it's use has been. I hope that many other boaters responses will include sufficient data on fuel usage to allow HMRC to make a better judgement on considering a lower rate of duty. Terry nb Hakuna Matata
