Canals and waterwaysFunerals, by their very nature, are usually very sombre occasions, but until today at Bradwell I'd never heard the assembled throng laugh out loud. Of course, it was all down to one of Mike's own compositions, splendidly acted out by Martin and Eugene. Today was also a time to reflect on a what a talented chap Mike actually was and what a great loss he will be in several ways, not only to Wendy and to his family, but to the waterway movement that he was so devoted to. We have indeed been prematurely deprived of a giant.
Regards -- KEVIN MASLIN I'm sorry to have missed this because I was stuck in the traffic jam which Stoke-on-Trent police had set up on the A500, I assume to prevent the provisional wing of SOW gathering in force. However the gathering at the hotel afterwards was a marvellous cross-section of those most committed to the canals, and I understand that using one of Mike's own scripts was Brian Dominic's inspired idea.
